A
graduate of Baton Rouge High School, he attended LSU,
left to serve in World War II, and returned to Baton
Rouge to enter private business. He was called to
serve in the Korean War and returned to Baton Rouge to
become a state administrator as director of the Office
of Motor Vehicles. He retired and then served with the
Louisiana Achafalaya Levee Board as secretary. He
retired and then served as executive director of
Louisiana Used Motor Vehicles and Parts Commission. He
retired and was presently a commissioner on the board
of Louisiana Used Motor Vehicles and Parts Commission.
He died at 9:07 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2001, at River
West Medical Center. He was 83, a resident of
Plaquemine and a native of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.
Survived by his wife of 35 years, Glenda Cuny Landry,
Plaquemine; two daughters, Julia Glenn Landry and
Joelle Kathryn Landry, both of Baton Rouge; and loving
nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents,
Francis A. Sr. and Kathleen Quinn Landry; a son,
Francis Dean Landry; a brother, Ben Cook; and a
sister, Eloise Feig. He was a member of Plaquemine
Lions Club. He was named Lion of the Year 2001 and
received the Melvin Jones Award, the highest honor of
the Lions Club. |
